NLA President Leads Strategic Courtesy Visit to National Assembly Library Trust Fund

On Wednesday 6th May, 2026, the President of the Nigerian Library Association led a delegation, including Dr Juliet Alex-Nmecha, Dr Fatimah Jibril Abduldayan, NLA Admin Sec - Dr Omoh Auntymama Atsenokhai and other NLA Leaders on a courtesy visit to the National Assembly Library Trust Fund. The Executive Secretary, National Assembly Library Trust Fund, Hon. Henry Nwawuba received the delegation.

At the visit, the President expressed appreciation for the Trust Fund’s continued support, particularly its contributions to the success of the Association’s conferences and professional development initiatives.

Highlighting the evolving role of libraries in a knowledge-driven society, the President emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between both bodies. He proposed joint training programmes and capacity-building workshops to enhance the competencies of librarians and reposition libraries as key drivers of governance, research, and national development.

The visit also featured a proposal for a National Summit on Libraries to foster dialogue among stakeholders and address emerging sector challenges.

The President further invited the Trust Fund to participate in the NLA’s 64th National Conference and AGM in July 2026, reaffirming the Association’s commitment to sustained partnership for the advancement of libraries in Nigeria. Among those present was the SA to the ES on library matters, Mrs. Aminci Thomas who played a great role in making the visit a success.
