The Nigerian Library Association witnessed a successful in-house handover yesterday, August 29, 2025, as the 22nd and 23rd National Executive came together for a Meeting at the NLA Secretariat, Abuja.

Before the event, both former and current Excos paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Chief Executive Officer of the National Library of Nigeria, Prof. Chinwe V. Anunobi who received the team warmly, and charged all to work together for the good of the association. She emphasized on the need to engage NLA members nationwide through workshops and other useful initiatives for the advancement of the profession.

In his inaugural speech, the new NLA President, Dr. Lawal Umar acknowledged the efforts of the immediate past administration and promised to build on their achievements. Furthermore, he sought their support as the new administration began their tenure. He also called on the collective support of his fellow newly-elected executives and expressed optimism in their capacity as a team to build a stronger NLA. “I have no doubts in the capacity of all our excos. I look forward to us holding ‘sectional virtual town hall meetings with state chapter chairmen as well as with different sections of the NLA (ARL, NALISE, AULNU, COMPLIN, etc.), let us bring back our members,” Dr. Umar stated.

The ceremony concluded with the official exchange of handover notes and documents, as well as the change of signatories.
